Description
1. Green Sand Molding
Calcium bentonite is widely used as a bonding agent in green sand molding. When mixed with silica sand and water, it forms a cohesive sand mixture that can be shaped into molds for cast iron, steel, aluminum, and copper alloy casting. It helps maintain mold strength, resist thermal shock, and allow gas escape during pouring.
2. Drilling Mud
In drilling mud, calcium bentonite works as a viscosifier, suspending agent, and filtration control material. It helps carry drill cuttings, prevent settling, reduce fluid loss, and form a protective filter cake on the wellbore wall, improving drilling stability in loose or fractured formations.
3. Iron Ore Pelletization
Calcium bentonite acts as a binder in iron ore pelletization, helping fine iron ore particles form strong green pellets. It improves pellet handling strength, supports drying and high-temperature induration, and helps reduce cracking during transportation and smelting preparation.
4. Adsorbent & Purification
As a natural adsorbent, calcium bentonite can bind heavy metals, organic pollutants, suspended solids, pesticides, petroleum hydrocarbons, VOCs, and odors. It is used in wastewater treatment, soil remediation, and air purification to support pollution control and environmental restoration.
Sodium modification: By replacing interlayer Ca²⁺ with sodium carbonate, the expansion ratio can be increased to over 30.
Acid activation: Treatment with sulfuric acid (concentration 20-30%) yields active clay, which is used for oil decolorization.
Organic modification: Quaternary ammonium salt intercalation (such as dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide), with a contact angle of 120°, enhances hydrophobicity.
Application technical indicators
Absorbent weight ≥ 100g/100g (water absorption rate ≥ 375%/2 hours at 20℃ and 0.1MPa).
The wet pressing strength of the molding sand for casting is ≥ 90 kPa, and the clumping rate of the cat litter is ≤ 70%.
Quality control standards
The montmorillonite content should be ≥ 98.3%, and the high whiteness should be ≤ 86.
Particle size range: 325 - 600 mesh (for textile industry use).
The specific surface area can reach 250 m²/g after acid activation.

Packed with an inner plastic film layer and an outer plastic woven bag, or packed according to customer requirements.
Standard packing weight: 25 ± 0.25 kg per bag, or customized according to customer requirements.
